Why is everyone so afraid of standing up for what is right?

I asked a question earlier (check it after you are done with this one) called REVOLUTION 2009! Are you ready? and the responses i am getting are frankly unsettling. Why must we fear our Government? The government is supposed to work FOR the people and its not its working for big business and political power, ie the reasons why we broke away from England in the 1st place. And now its happening with our own country and we are afraid to speak out and stand up, just want to go on about your business everyday and act this country is the best place on earth because "OUR" so called leaders are looking out for our best interest. Why do you feel this way?
