Elder scrolls 4 can anyone help me on where to start out?

I just started elder scrolls 4 for 360 and i started out doing the main quests but i got stuck when your trying to clear out the castle..on the part where the gaurds hold a room and you have to find some monk guy..well anyways i cant kill all the little imps in the next room seeing as how im only lvl 1 i cant do it...should i go back and train and if i should where do i go and what do i do? plz help
