Styrofoam egg cartons?

I was told that I should avoid buying eggs in styrofoam cartons as there is a chemical transfer between the carton and the egg, and was told that consuming eggs from the styrofoam carton is bad. Is any of this true or is it just an old wives tale started by someone who's a eco/green nut?
