Meatloaf UUUGGGHHHH!?

I think I'm a decent cook, I only burn dinner now and then and most of what I make is actually eatable ( the dog only gets it occasionaly- except when I'm afraid it'll make even her sick.) So why is it that I can't seem to make a decent meatloaf?? I usually put in an egg, some oats or bread crumbs, and a combination of ketsup or tomatoes or tomato sause and some seasoning, sometimes some chopped onion and green pepper. But to no avail! It always comes out dry, and tastless! Are the meatloaf gods angry with me? I don't get it. Does anyone have a suggestion?
