Is there any difference between director's cut and uncut?

when they say uncut, I ume it's the original theatrical cut that hasn't been edited. So, the director's cut would be different. Depends on the movie though. Like I think the longer, director's cut of Abyss has become so well known that people refer to it as the uncut version.
